Spirituality Retreat

posted Oct 26, 2017, 8:13 AM by Kate Fields

Underwood will gather for our first Spirituality Retreat to be held at the Stable House on Saturday, November 11th, from 1pm-5pm. This is an opportunity to learn multiple spiritual practices to engage in to focus on God and to deepen your spiritual journey. We will learn communal practices, individual practices, and we'll close with an evening prayer service around a fire. Come expecting a deeply meaningful experience within your faith journey, with God, and with others in our community. Bring a journal and pen. If you can only come for part of the day, come on!

This fall, starting in late September through the end of November, we'll begin a new series in worship called "Front Porch Conversations" where we'll have folks from all over Milwaukee joining us in worship to talk with me about how they are putting feet to their faith in creative and prophetic ways. Some faces you may recognize and some will be new to you! These will be 10 minute conversations prior to the sermon each week.

AUTUMN GATHERING: On Saturday, September 23rd at 5:30pm, we'll gather at Chad and Sarah Kafka's home (please see weekly email for their address) for an evening of autumn delight! Chad and Sarah will provide chili, but, if you are able, please bring a fall-ish side dish or dessert. We'll have a bonfire as darkness falls, bobbing for apples, and maybe some bonfire music (if you play a stringed instrument, bring it). There will be a carpool from Underwood, so if you need a ride, holler at Pastor Kate ahead of time.

BLESSING OF THE BICYCLES

posted Jul 20, 2017, 2:47 PM by Kate Fields

Join Underwood Baptist Church for a Blessing of the Bicycles! This will be a brief service in which bicycles are blessed in the hope that it will bring safety for the present biking season. In addition to the blessing of each bike, there will be a moment of silence to remember those cyclists we’ve lost in the past year. We will also dedicate a new bike rack for Underwood.

Bring your bike with you... wearing your usual cycling clothing is just fine.

This event is for people of all faiths or no faith; Underwood celebrates everyone in all of their identities! You'll be blessed and welcomed, not proselytized.
